Style Your Way To Spain. I Love Majorca.

This is my entry to the #StyleYourWayToSpain competition with ClickStay. If you would like to enter you can find out more here.

We first went to Majorca in 2007. I loved that holiday. It was our first beach holiday together. We lazed around in the pool for hours on end, had cocktails late into the night with no worries of hangovers the next morning, we hired a car and discovered the crazy strong waves on Beach Romantica, we discovered Maxi-Bon ice-cream and ate a few too many. Hell, we even get crashed Nathan Moore’s wedding reception!

Fast forward 9 years. Oh what I’d give to go back to Majorca, but marriage and 2 children later, wow, what a different holiday it would be now! I would love to take my husband and 2 sons for a sunshine holiday on the gorgeous island of Majorca. It’s not too far to fly from Edinburgh, yet far enough to really relax, enjoy the heat and forget about the everyday stresses of work and home. Hang on, did I say relax? With 2 young children that’s not 100% truthful, but we’d give it a good shot.

Holiday equals holiday clothes and I’ve found my ideal wardrobe for a trip to the Balearics. Browsing through Net-A-Porter I’ve found some really beautiful things. Thinking Majorca will be hot, sunny and amazing I’ve narrowed down my outfits for the day down to these.

Swimming pool fun in the morning. Swimming costume by Adriana Degreas. Sarong from Dolce & Gabanna.

I have a mum tum, that stubborn bit of belly that just will not shift. This swimming costume is ideal for covering that, bonus it’s dark which is always flattering and double bonus it’s covered in stars. Late morning I’d wrap myself in this gorgeous envy green sarong and sit back in the shade a while to enjoy my book and a holiday cocktail. I’m imagining my boys would be playing quietly and angelically under a large sun umbrella, obviously.

Out and about exploring in the afternoon. Eugenia Kim straw hat, Mabu by Maria BK sandals, Chloe mini dress, Charlotte Chesnais earrings, Cutler & Gross sunglasses.

With a wee pair of shorts below I’d flow through the streets of Palma looking effortlessly cool in my breezy ruffled mini dress from Chloe. Just because I’m on holiday and I can I’d go for these amazing pom pom shoes from Mabu by Maria BK. Flat soles for many miles walked (and hunting for ice cream) when exploring a new city are a must. The afternoon sun is the hottest so I’d have my trusty sun hat from Eugenia Kim as well as my very cool cat glasses courtesy of Cutler & Gross. And the look would be finished with these unusual gold and silver drop hoop earrings by Charlotte Chesnais.

Heading out for dinner in the evening. Delpozo maxi dress, Anya Hindmarch tote bag, Gucci sneakers.

I love green so this maxi dress jumped off the page at me, it’s stunning. And long enough to match it with these super comfy ladybug shoes from Gucci. For a massive injection of extended colour I’d carry this very bright pixel bag from Anya Hindmarch. Obviously we’d have got a baby sitter in for the evening so I wouldn’t be worrying about little people spilling food and staining my new silk dress. A blissful evening with amazing food and a superb view.

Onto the accommodation. I’ve found the most beautiful property which would double as both a perfect family retreat and a superb location for a photoshoot. Set within it’s own tropical gardens Finca Figueral Nou is a truly magnificent house, both inside and out. This country residence is in Pollenca around an hours drive from Palma airport and with 5 bedrooms plus a travel cot and room for 10 people this property really is a dream family destination.

Finca Figueral Nou. Left – Main house. Right – Poolside room with WC and shower.

The house itself is an impressive looking stone clad dwelling with a huge balcony, from which you can enjoy views across to Puerto Pollenca and the distant mountain ranges. The clear swimming pool is very inviting. It’s surrounded by numerous sun loungers and even has its own poolside room with toilet and shower. The house is surrounded by sun terraces and shaded areas, and the garden is encased by dry stone walls with a secure entrance gate making the whole place very safe. Pop out through your secure entrance and you’re only 5km from the nearest bar and restaurant and 10km from the beach.

Swimming pool with sun loungers and spacious safe enclosed gardens.

Inside the house you have the all essential air conditioning as well as central heating and an open fire if you do happen to visit during the colder months. There’s even the added surprise extra of a ping pong table! The interior with its beamed ceilings is decorated to a exultingly high standard whilst still keeping its Mediterranean influence with flashes of terracotta and light floors throughout. All of the rooms here are stunning, even the hall with its high ceiling and sweeping staircase is worthy of its own photoshoot.

Stunning spacious hallway.
Beautiful large and airy living room with doors out to the sun terrace.
Stunning views from the balcony.
Relaxing shade from the sun.

Luxury in the sunshine, palm trees, swimming pool, amazing views, barbecue, ping pong.

Sounds and looks like the ideal break to me. I wonder if Nathan Moore will make another appearance? He’s definitely model material.
